Pros:

Cell

The powerful Cell processor's multi-core design should provide developers with unparalled power once they figure out how to utilize the chipset's complex architecture.

Universal Login

Universal login makes playing games online easier than ever.

Blu-ray

As a Blu-ray movie player, the PS3 delivers next-generation movies as well as games.

Free Online

While the PS3 may not have as much funtionality as Microsoft's Xbox Live, it does offer free online gaming.

Coss Media Bar

The crossbar interface is easy to use (especially for those familiar with the PSP) and offers the ability to download mucis, photos, videos, browse the web, or purchase games or game demos through the PlayStation online store.

Sixaxis

The Sixaxis controller offers unique gameplay mechanins with its motion-sensing capabilites.

Cons:

The OS

The Playstation operating system and Network isn't nearly as robust as Microsoft's Xbox Live in its current state.

Random Disconnects

Bluetooth wireless for headset and controllers is currently spotty. Controller connection problems are a reality and it's not pretty.

Price

While it's a cheap Blu-ray movie player, it is one of the most expensive consoles in video game history (and an HDMI cable and input on your Tv is required for 1080p movie playback).

Scaling

Since the PS3 can't currently scale video images to fit your TV, it requires gamers to have either a 1080p TV that accepts a 60 hertz signal, or a TV that supports images natively and 720p. Even though your TV may say HD on it, it may not be compatible. If it doesn't, games will only display in 480p.

No Headset Packed-In

Since no headset is currently packed in, gamers must purchase a number of peripherals to get the full use of their system. Bluetooth headsets range from $50 to $150 if you want to go wireless, and cables and remote controllers add up quick.

Rumble

The lack of rumble and a headset input on the Sixaxis controller is a disappointment.

Wii

Pros:

Ease of Use

Despite the next-gen controller, the Wii is remarkably easy to set up, taking only a few minutes.

The Wii Remote

While we're no sold on how all the launch games use it, there's no doubt that it works well and offers some very interesting gameplay possibilities, even in traditional games like Zelda.

The Virtual Console

By the end of there year, there will be a ton of all-time classics available for download. This is an excellent way for Nintendo to leverage its stellar back catalogue.

Zelda

Although it's largely because of how long the game was delayed, Nintendo is once again launching with a true classic for the ages.

Online

Though multiplayer isn't ready, it is encouraging that the company is finally taking a serious approuch to the Internet.

The SD Card Slot

It's a small detail, but it's nice to see Nintendo giving owners some multimedia possibilites.

Wii Sports Packed-In

We thought packed-in games had gone the way of the dinosaur, so it's nive that Nintendo is giving people something to play right out of the box.

Cons:

Graphics

Even at launch, there's a pretty big disparity between the visuals of the Wii and PS3 and 360. We expect these difference will only grow larger as time moves on.

No DVD Playback

At this late date, it seems silly that Nintendo didn't include this in the hardware.

No Hard Drive

While there's a ecent amount of flash memory and the SD slot, we're getting used to our systems having a hard drive. It will be interesting to see if this limits developers down the road.

Wi-Fi Only

For a company that wants to make online gaming accessible, it's odd that Nintendo doesn't allow for easy, plug-and-play broadband connection to the Wii. Will this limit online usage in the U.S.?

Gimmicky Games

Although the launch lineup has some meat to it, a fair number of early Wii titles appear to be a bit shallow and rely solely on the novelty of the motion-sensing controller.

The Wii Remote Speaker

Neat idea, but the sound quality on the remote's speaker is just horrendous and cheap-sounding.

No Battery Life Warning

When your remote's batteries give out, you'll get a generic connection failure warning, with no indicatioin that you need to replace the batteries.|||I'd go for the Wii because it's cheaper, it's Nintendo and it's probably a great new kind of videogaming experience. I'd go for anything by Sega if they still made consoles though, since they've never disappointed me and my favorite third-party Capcom always supported them to the end. I am also biased because I've always disliked the Sony consoles. Also, for me, it would depend on what console will have Street Fighter 4, that is if it ever comes out. Until then, I am not gonna waste a cent on any consoles as I still play my Sega Saturn and Dreamcast, which has never disappointed me. Besides, the ideal future of gaming resides in mugen-like gaming platforms and emulation. There's no way I'd ever pay over 鈧?0-25 for a game again and they're usually twice or thrice as much. Screw them money-hungry corporations.|||get a wii!!! it the most amazing thing ever, and its way less expensive then ps3.

trust me, the wii is the only gaming console you will ever need for the rest of your life!!!|||Asking these kind of questions attracts fanboys! I'll try to be unbiased; as I have all three consoles. I play on the Wii more than the PS3, i think the games are more fun despite the difference in graphics, the PS3 WILL be great in the next few years, once the better games come out. But at this time, I would stick with the Wii, it's cheaper and in my opinion, more fun.|||If you're a serious, proper serious gamer, its the PS3.

I'd go for the Wii though. Its cheaper and you get so much fun. Zelda is a brilliant game, and nintendo are due to release many more great ones. Though I am biased.|||i own a wii, and i say definatly get the wii, when te ps3 got its goods, it's still over priced and is just like any other sit down and do nothing type games, why the wii adds moe fun.|||Definantly the Wii. People say the PS3 will be getting really good games soon, but the Wii is also getting a monster lineup this year and early next. Super Smash Bros.: Brawl is going to be top selling game of the year, despite the late release. Also, Metroid Prime 3, and Super Mario Galaxy are going to be top-sellers. I sold my PS3 in a week because the graphics were just about it. I don't even care if the graphics are good when I play the game. I'd rather play fun and difficult games than play good looking ones. Also, that website that gives you a free wii is a scam.

By the way, don't forget that the PS3 lost most of its console-exclusive titles. You can get Guitar Hero, and Grand Theft Atuo, and other games of the sort on Xbox360, or the Wii.

Games to buy: Zelda:TP, Wii Play (Extra controller), Super Paper Mario, if you like pokemon, Pokemon Battle Revolution.|||I would actually perfer the PS3, but I would go with the Wii. Wait for more good games to come out for the PS3 first. Not worth the price until you can get some good games. And the Wii's just kinda fun to play with.|||PS3|||ok just to let u know it is HD ready u just need to buy the special plugs for it. And another thing it has a thing sort of like what the xbox did for the DVD situation so you are wrong on the Wii it can play dvds. It's way better than ps3, Simply put.|||If you are looking for a step up to an HD experience (you'll need an HDTV though), I'd recommend PS3. If you are still using your Standard Definition TV and not planning to buy any HDTV soon, I would stick to wii. But if you are a fan boy, I'd suggest you buy both =)

I'm currently using my PS3 to play blu-ray on my HDTV and it's awesome (I'm using 720p or 1080i coz my TV is unable to play 1080p).

The PS3 games are somewhat disappointing because most of them are not exclusive to PS3 and they're rushed to production. The good thing is that Sony keeps updating their firmware to fix any bugs.

Keep a PS3 as a backup for your xbox360 (you'll never know when ur xbox360 gonna get the red rings of death).|||Wii, More Fun.|||wii|||Get the Wii. You already have the 360 for the serious hardcore games and it's hard to find many games for the PS3 right now. $500 is alot to spend for a console to just look pretty and not be played to often. You'll play the Wii more, get that.
