How come shows are not continued on DVD for the fans after it's Cancelled.?

Some of my favorite shows got canned too soon! All they have to do is continue to release the show through DVD! Every show should at least have 5 seasons contracts and if it's cancelled from TV film the rest for DVD.

Because advertising pays for the show. If it doesn't air, there's no advertising revenue. If there's no revenue, there's no budget. Selling a show on DVD is much dicier - there's no way of knowing how many people will buy it, so they're risking millions of dollars. This is especially true since TV shows are usually canceled due to low ratings. There is a small userbase, and only a small percentage of them are likely to purchase the show on DVD, so it's just not worth it.How come shows are not continued on DVD for the fans after it's Cancelled.?
I don't know how they choose what will be released and what won't, sometimes people can't work out contracts on who will get royalties and stuff like that.



but, some shows get released on DVD having been canceled after one season, like Firefly, and Surface. so, I'm guessing with those shows you like, they probably had a hard time working out contracts
