How much should it matter to me that my fiance is stupid?

My fiance and are are very in love. We live together and we've got a baby on the way, plus my two children that came before he and I met, and all is well and good. My problem, though, is that he is SO STUPID. I tried not to look down on him for it in the past, but I'm at the point where I feel like he's incapable of figuring ANYTHING out. Last week we were at the movies and he asks "I wonder how they get the movies here so much sooner than the DVD comes out." And one of his more famous lines being when I was talking about hiking in the Maryland woods with my dad when I was a kid and seeing the old houses of pilgrims deep in the woods, and he looks at me like I'm stupid and says "Pssh...pilgrims aren't real." Plus because I'm so stubborn, we end up arguing these things out and he ends up thinking I'M STUPID because he doesn't understand me when the REAL problem is that he thinks pilgrims are mythical creatures. What do I do?!How much should it matter to me that my fiance is stupid?
Stupid? I don't think so. That is a very honest question as far as the DVD thing. But, I already took the time to learn the answer. And, what about the pilgrims? There is a lot of fiction in history. That's not to say that there are no pilgrims. At least, he's not denying The Holocaust.



Just try to communicate with each other and try to understand each other better. And, don't call him stupid. That isn't really fair.
Ok, you KNOW he is stupid and yet you have a child with him, not only that but now you will have three children. I can't figure out who is really the stupid one.How much should it matter to me that my fiance is stupid?
first off..i beleev that possible marijuana is responsible for that kind of intelligence..second...that is the funniest thing in the freaking world lmao..and third..there's nuthing you can do..i mean..accept sit him in front of a computer and google friggin PILGRIM..bring him to a professor..hell...andybody past grade 1 should be able to tell him that they were real..its either that..or you bring him back to school and dont marry him till he graduates Kindergarten through 12th grade once again
Ok, my gut instinct is to try to hook up with you because you're smart, witty, and I have a fetish for pregnant women.



Trying to fight that, you can try several different approaches.

With the movie thing, explain to him it's all about marketing (which is pretty much the reason), it's technically possible for them to have DVDs out the day the movie is released in theaters.

For the Pilgrim thing, pretend he's doing a bad job trying to make you smile. And after all, he may be failing miserably at it, but it's the thought that counts.

Guess what, there is nothing wrong with being more educated than your partner. Just as long as you can live with that fact.



Remember what attracted you to him. Not all people are that smart in all aspects for their life, or the world around them. Perhaps your role can be the teacher, of course without letting him know that you will teach him what he needs to know. In any relationship there are roles. You play to your strengths and he will play to his.



Whatever you do encourage his strengths, but don't call out his weakness. Believe it or not he may already feel that you are better than he is in certain areas and his remarks may just a way to prove to you that he's on par with you.
