Has anyone heard any news about star wars coming to blu-ray anytime soon?

or is mr lucas gonna take his time just like when he brought it to DVD 13 years lateHas anyone heard any news about star wars coming to blu-ray anytime soon?
I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you. The only thing that has been said about it that is "official" was at the San Diego Comic Con this year. Steve Sansweet confirmed one of the most talked about rumors coming from LucasFilm ... that there WILL be a Saga Set for the movies and that it will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray "sometime in the next few years". Isn't it funny that the "in the next few years" line is used so often by those at LucasFilm ... George has taught them well ... lol ... now we just have to figure out how long "in the next few years" is in respect to us "normal" people. I do have to say that this interview was the first time I had ever heard someone from LucasFilm actually say that they would be on Blu-Ray also. The release date for this, and the confirmed return of all 6 movies to theaters in a true 3-D form, is rumored to be in the summer of 2012 but there has been no confirmation to it as of yet.

Lucas isn't just "taking his time" with this and there were a lot of reasons why the original OT didn't come out on DVD. It is a widely known fact in the movie industry that Blu-Ray, for the most part, is a dead format. All the "Rah, Rah" hoopla when it came out has faded into the reality of the situation and the general public is really ticked off about the "reality" of Blu-Ray. When the "High Def War" started a couple years ago between Sony (Blu-Ray) %26amp; Toshiba (HD-DVD) all you heard was how much better the picture and sound were ... they forgot to tell people that in order to actually see and hear that improvement they would have to buy all new HD TVs etc ... people who already have that stuff will probably stick to the Blu-Ray stuff, hell, buy a PS3 and you have a Blu-Ray player albeit one that doesn't work very well. The simple truth is that the advancements are not enough to justify the added cost of getting all new stuff ... not by a long shot especially when DVD is just fine. If you look back at the last "tech war" it was DVD vs VHS and before that CD vs Cassette ... what was the "deciding factor" in those "wars" ... simple ... DVD and CD were a quantum leap forward in the tech ... there was no doubt about that BUT ... all you had to do was hook it up to the TV or stereo that you already had and it worked ... Blu-Ray doesn't have that and it is ultimately why it will fail.

That being said ... I have both a Toshiba HD-DVD player and a Blu-Ray ... Xmas gifts from family that only knew that I was a tech geek and thought I would like the "new" stuff. I didn't have the heart to take the two players back so they sit on a shelve in a closet ... right next to my old Beta-Max player ...

May The Force Be With You ...

PS: The animated movie from last summer, Star Wars The Clone Wars, is the only one that is available in a Blu-Ray format.

"brought it to DVD 13 years late" ... ummm ... what kind of math are you using to make that calculation because it doesn't make a lick of sense.

The OT came out on DVD 21 years after the release of ep VI ... 23 years if you want to talk about the versions that we saw in theaters back in the day.

Will they be on Blu-Ray ... I'm with Jedi Dude ... don't hold your breath.

Latron ...
