Would I see any real world difference if I upgraded to a new i7 based machine? Should I wait for the i9, which is coming soon?
Thanks for reading my post!Should I buy a new PC?
I would wait for i9 as there is no real difference.
I am also planning to buy a computer too. My pc is AMD Athlon XP+ 3800, but have been reading a lot about Core 2 Duo (E8400), Quad Core, and i5/i7.
i5/i7 is definitely a huge jump (in terms of performance *and* money)...
but the big question is do you need it?
I mean a quad core would be more than sufficient for any user (if you are like me - heavy basic usage: office + music + web + pdf + basic video + basic games), but I don't know if it is worth to spend $$$ for i5/i7...Should I buy a new PC?
The important information is missing. What does your computer not do that you want it to do?
If all you are doing is browsing the internet and reading the odd email then you should probably trade this one in for a much older one :-)
If you are a hardcore gamer or heavily into C.A.D. then every computer you buy will seem to not quite make the grade :-)
You will notice a big difference if you switch to i7 but it seems good enough to last you until i9 comes out so you should wait for i9.Should I buy a new PC?
from what it looks like the only thing you should have to update is your RAM and your video card.
processor cores dont matter. besides its better to run a 3GHz dual core processor than it is to run a 3 GHz quad core processor. dont matter and you already have good hard drive space.
