What's special about Tuesdays, the movie industry's chosen day to release their home videos (Blu-ray, DVD,VHS)?

How did the movie industry decide that Tuesdays are usually the best days to release the home-playable video version of the movies (such as Blu-ray, regular DVD, VHS tape)--at least here in the USA? When VHS beat Beta out and they started releasing movie copies on that (which then of course lead to successive video formats of movies being released on the same weekday years later), what kind of disussion did they have that helped them say something like, "We should have Tuesday as the day we release the home video formats of our movies"?

Will you come back soon to see what follow-ups (but NOT CHAT) I may have here for your answers?

Will you come back after the question closes to see the comments box in case I have chat about your answers (okay after closing)?

Thanks, if so.What's special about Tuesdays, the movie industry's chosen day to release their home videos (Blu-ray, DVD,VHS)?
They didn't want to release them on Monday because they can't ship to stores on sunday, so they picked Tuesday so they could ship monday. That's my theory anyway. I worked at blockbuster and best buy. Blockbuster gets them a week in advance but stores like walmart and bestbuy don't get them until the day before I don't believe.

and I always check back. :)

Well, I'd say that the studios don't like to release the dvds on the weekend because it could conflict with ticket sales for newly released theatrical movies. They care more about those movies making money than they do about movies that have already made money that are being released on dvd.

And because they like to avoid conflict with the weekend movies they release DVDs on the first available date in the week, which is Tuesday. That makes sense to me.
