For someone arguing that the PS3 does more than play movies, your list sure contains "blu-ray movies" a lot, and lists a lot of features that would only matter to (some) blu-ray movies.



Look, comparing the PS3 to the 360 as a GAME CONSOLE means you're going to be primarily concerned with...wait for it...GAMES.



It is a nice plus that the PS3 can play blu-ray movies, and yes, it is one of the best blu-ray players on the market especially for $400. But beyond that, you gotta talk about the games.



Sure, the PS3 has games - and some good exclusives at that, but I still find its lineup awfully weak when compared to the 360's. I like RPGs, which meant that my console of choice last generation was the PS2. Hands down, the best console. Had more games, better (IMHO) games, and better selection of games than the Xbox which was the latecomer last time.



The PS3's lineup suffers mainly from the fact that most of its games are also available on the 360 - with virtually identical graphics and game play. This really means that the platform exclusive titles are going to be that much more important. Unfortunately, the PS3's exclusive library just isn't that great when stacked up against the 360's. Sure, the PS3 has 'Resistance Fall of man', but the 360 has Halo3 and Gears Of War. The PS3 has Uncharted and Heavenly Sword, but both of them are pitifully short - way too short to justify buying at full price.



You know, all Sony really had to do was just get folks to produce sequels of their games from last generation, and they probably would have already "won" this generation. But that didn't happen. In fact, I'm STILL waiting for a compelling RPG to come out on the PS3. Meanwhile, the 360 has 4 - 3 of which are exclusive. What does the PS3 have? Well, there's Final Fantasy XIII which is due in 2009... Ok, there is White Knight (I think that's its name) which looks interesting, but at the same time, there's Valkeria for the 360 which looks just as promising.



I find it odd that the PS3 has been going after the shooter market so hard. The PS2 was certainly not strong in the area of the first or third person shooter - but that was OK since it had such a strong line up in many other genres. This time, Sony seems to be ignoring all of that, and is trying to compete directly against the Xbox's strength. That makes no sense to me whatsoever. Where's the stuff that made the previous Playstations so great? Seriously, if I wanted to play a first person shooter, my PC would be the first choice, then the 360, and finally the PS3.



Finally, I would argue that the PS3 was launched as an incomplete product, and is still incomplete today. It launched without controllers that have rumble (those are coming in June) and it launched without a proper online service (that's also coming in June...hopefully.) The PS3 has some big games scheduled for this year, but it's not as though the 360 (or the Wii for that matter) don't have big titles of their own lined up.



That's not to say that the 360 is perfect because it's not, and Microsoft certainly deserves the criticism they've gotten for the whole RROD thing, not to mention their decision to ship (and keep shipping) the hard drive as an optional component, as compared to making it a REQUIREMENT like it was in the original XBox.Ps3 and the 360.?
wow ps3 has a bunch of useless **** we don't need. everyone knows the best exclusive games are on the xbox 360.

-Halo is by far the worst FPS ever made LOL its funny that all Xbot 3Sh**ty fanboys comebacks are "LAWL THE PS3 CANT PLAY HALO".. its kinda sad thats the only game u mention when that game is complete garbage, metal gear OWNs the sh*t out of it.

-The Xbot hardware is a peice of junk.. *cough* RRoD.. yeah.. a reliable console like the PS3 is accually worth its price WHY? because awesome games, free blu-ray player, pwnage graphics, NO HARDWARE ISSUES, and not to mention free ONLINE. KTHXBAI kiddo grow up and learn and get through your head that xbot will just never ever win.
