Xbox 360 elite or playstation 3 40gb?

It's my birthday coming up soon, and i've chosen to ask for a games console, xbox 360 elite or the playstation 3 40gb. I live in the uk so as it stands the xbox 360 elite is 拢259.99 with a free game, and lots of shops are offering some good bundles on the 360 elite for under 拢300. As for the playstation 3 that's 拢299.99 with a free game as well and for about 拢320 i could get gta 4 and a blu-ray movie.



Both these consoles seem to have the same graphics, but the xbox has a hdmi cable included. But the playstation 3 has buit in blue-ray and the ps3 has built in wifi



The xbox also seems to have the better games on the market , but the ps3 seems to have some good games coming soon and some already.



Also i'll have the console in the same room as my pc so i use the ethernet cable. And the hd-dvd drive in the uk is 拢39.99, i also have a original xbox with some of the original xbox games.



It's left me with a dilemma so could someone help me out.Xbox 360 elite or playstation 3 40gb?

GRAPHICS:

both are almost the same now.....coz the ps3 is catching up already.....infact gta4 for the xbox 360's have some framerate problems......the ps3 games graphics will be much better next year but its gettin old already



GAMES:

xbox 360 have more games ..... but therell be more games coming for the ps3 this year..........xbox 360 games are cheaper.....



ONLINE:

no question xbox live is better..... theres more downlaodable games, demos, trailers and vids....meaning more support.....

but yea psn is free but online support is not tht good.....



MULTIMEDIA:

the ps3 is best..... it has a bluray player.... you can store picture, videos and music..... from a flash drive, sd card and ipod......the medai player and photo section is amazing...... and it can upscale dvd's .... it can play more video and music format unlike the xbox 360 only wma, wmv , mp3, avi and divx......



OTHERS:

i didnt like the ps3 interface.....its like the psp.....

and you cant chat and play music while in game......

ps3 doensnt have a vga cable......

ps3 has better hdmi....1.3 and 360 has 1.2 taht means deeper colour....ps3 has bluetooth and wifi



PRICE:

ill say the ps3 is much cheaper if ull want to buy all acessories for the xbox 360..... like the wireless adaptor.....chargers.....

but if u just want the console the xbox 360 has arcade which is cheap....and its ready to use coz of the 256 mb memory card.......
Here is the deal....I have both.With hd-dvd being dead we are all waiting to see if microsoft adds a blu-ray.Xbox better games and backwards compatible.PS3 blu ray and you dont have to pay a online fee for the ability to purchase online downloads.(the 40 gb ps3 cannot play ps2 games)Both have amazing graphics so you cant go wrong with either but watch out for flying controllers from the wii.Xbox 360 elite or playstation 3 40gb?
id go with the ps3,i got the xbox elite n also the hd dvd add-on ,it was announsed a few wks after i bought hd dvd that they have stoped makin them so they will soon faze out which also means they wont be making the hd dvd discs , so id get the ps3 at least u will have blu-ray n as you say theres some good games coming soon , i wish id have bought ps3 now, the online gaming 4 the xbox is realy somthing else tho n burnout paradise is amazing

xbox elite is good, dont get me wrong but the hd format lost and the hardware is terrible. microsoft stated at one point 1 in 3 of their models had major disfunctionality.Xbox 360 elite or playstation 3 40gb?
X-box 360 elite, i traded my ps3 in for one, the graphics are much better, its more popular now and the online gaming is amazing, the xbox is a much better choice m8

ps3 its a far better computer anyway you have to pay to get online with the xbox and its free with the ps3 i wil be the biggist mestake you will ever make if you buy the xbox
Ps3 has no vibration in the controllers. What is a game without vibration.
get a ps3 it has spider man 3 online is free you can play blue ray movie alot of games is coming out hardware is the best (unlike xbox 360 it sucks)
I would get an Xbox 360, by far superior online!

Also, better games available. 'Halo 3' for one.

get a ps3 my xbox screwed up on me.
i can't believe how many people are choosing xbox over ps3 just for the games. OK for the long run, ps3 lasts longer and will have better games in the future and not to mention, it has blu ray. Im not a fanboy but Xbox is only good because of Halo and their live thingy but ps3 also has free online pay (which isn't as good as xbox live but it's still acceptable). Just wait, Sony is going to redeem itself. Also xbox breaks down so much more you have no idea...i think the rate is like 33% but ps3 only has like a .2% breakdown rate. Id go with ps3 but this is completely up to you.
