Hey guys, Ive got a liteon 74850c that just recently decided to stop reading disks, so I bought a new hitachi 0078fk to replace it and now I am finding out that you need the key from the old drive to use the new one. Well I need to know a solution to get that key that is free or very cheap because I dont want to buy a spear thing because im nearly broke right now. So the question is, Is there a easy way to get the key off the liteon, or Is there a way to get the key off the motherboard or is there a way to get a new key or something of the sort? if worse comes to worse can I play play backups on a modded drive with no key?

Hi, you will need to alteast purchase the CK3 Lite adapter to pull the key, you do not need the spear, just solder the R707 Point.
Download and read the pdf in the jungleflasher program they will explain it http://jungleflasher.net/downloads.html . This is still cheaper then sending it to microsoft, $50 VS $150.
