Ok, so browsing my at local video store, I have noticed a trend in all the new movies. There is no more closed captioning(the little box on the back that has "CC" in it). Now, I need this to rent movies that have Closed Captioning because I have TV Guardian, which filters words like f***. My parents don't really care about all the other language, just not the f bomb. This has usually never been a problem for me until now. I went to rent Inglorious Basterds and District 9 today, but it wasn't Closed Captioned and I know that Paranormal Activity and Saw 6 are coming out soon and I really want to get them. So, my question is, has Closed Captioning been done away with or just become a standard for all new DVD's? If it has been done away with, does anyone know something like TV Guardian that can do the same thing, but doesn't require Closed Captioning? Thanks. Is there no more closed captioning on DVD's?
Instead of using Closed-Captioning, more studios are using subtitling. It is a different file format so if it's not compatible with TV Guardian, I would complain to TV Guardian that they are not keeping up with the times.
