I have one...I think it was well worth the price. $600.00 canadian with tax...But like everything else, it will go down in price at some point. I am from Canada, so I'm not sure what the going rate is over there. I have one with an 80 gig hard drive on it and I am going just crazy with it. Doing movies, concerts, etc...I can edit and everything. It's like having a PC in your TV. I am 43 and have wanted something that does this for so all. My advise to you is: If this is something you really want and you know you will use it and it won't go to waste, then get it. This is so much better then just recording on your vcr. HAVE FUN! :)Are HD DVD Recorders worth buying at the moment or do you expect the price to come done any time soon in th UK
I'll tell you that right now they aren't as big. In 6 months everywhere they should come down just a little. It will take a little time for the price to come down far enough for it to be as huge as DVD is right now.
Oh yes, and Blu-Ray is about to come out so I would recommend you waiting to see which one is most widely adopted first to make your choice.
The price has dropped but it will be dropping more.I suggest you wait.By the way there are still no HD DVD DISCS out on the market. Are HD DVD Recorders worth buying at the moment or do you expect the price to come done any time soon in th UK
I was pricing them today and found out they are coming down at a rate of about $50 (20GBP) a year.
no not now ,when they get alot on the market the price will come downAre HD DVD Recorders worth buying at the moment or do you expect the price to come done any time soon in th UK
No, they're not worth it, unless you have terabytes of data you intend to record. I couldn't see justifying paying that much to cram more data on a single disk.
hell yea
I suggest you to buy a Sony Playstation 3 for $599.99 USD this November 17th.
You can play Blu-Ray Discs with it.
I don't think it is just a matter of waiting for a price-drop. But that you should wait until the format war with Blu-Ray is settled. (Although the development of a UV laser diode may mean both could quickly become obsolete, either that or Hard-Disc Drive recording / non-moving-part data storage {eg 8Gb and higher SD cards} may prove the future format)
I would wait for Blu-ray.... More capacity, a lot more durable. Better software, just better all round...
