Am I ready for a PC upgrade?

Should I buy a new PC?

My current setup:



Asus MB

E8400 CPU

4 GB DDR2

2 320GB drives in Raid0

DVD RW

8800 GTS card



Would I see any real world difference if I upgraded to a new i7 based machine? Should I wait for the i9, which is coming soon?

I play WoW, Quake4, etc. but also do a lot of picture and movie manipulation. There is nothing this PC can't do, but I'm getting the itch for a new machine!Am I ready for a PC upgrade?
You've already got a pretty good computer, at least compared to the three I have sitting around at my house, lol. I'd wait for the i9 if you're really wanting to upgrade later down the line.

you did not mention any game that would even put that configuration tot the test,



picture manipulation (im reading photoshop) doesnt reqire any upgrade either.

I would personally wait for the prices of processors to drop more, before purchasing a new computer, if I were you. As you stated yourself, your current system is fine, so ignore the itch for now and wait for the prices to go down.
Wait for the newer generation chips to become more mature and better priced. It is expensive to get the latest and greatest and the better chips will be released after it has been on the market a while.Am I ready for a PC upgrade?
wait for it. this is a nice pc setup for the moment and ur not needing an upgrade. this pc will last for another 2 years before a upgrade is really needed. wait for i9.
You should keep thinking about the computer that you are using right now, if don't want the computer that you are using right perhaps you could experience a new computer system.
dont waste ur money ! buy a mac and then put windows in it with boot camp ! bam a good pc !
